About Me

Welcome! As the above title suggests, I am interested in all things

— especially Victorian novels. I am a Visiting Assistant Professor at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis, where I am teaching courses in nineteenth-century British fiction, children’s literature, and adolescent literature. I earned my PhD from Indiana University, Bloomington in 2015. My current book project–derived from my dissertation– focuses on continuations of such popular novels as Jane Eyre, Adam Bede, The Pickwick Papers, and Peter Pan. This project combines my love of nineteenth-century novels with my passion for theatre history, adaptation studies, children’s literature, media studies, and the history of reading. I read sequels, peruse Victorian periodicals, perform in theatrical adaptations, watch films, and follow Twitter feeds–all in the name of research! My research interests inform my pedagogy, and I introduce book history and media into the classroom to show that literary works are living narratives that continue to evolve with their readers. This website contains a variety of information about my research, teaching, and reading interests, and I hope you enjoy learning a little more about me.
